beyond the birth
My name is Katelyn and I am a doula and next birth after caesarean (NBAC) guide located in Penrith, and providing support for homebirths and births at Nepean Hospital.
I’m here for you; to walk alongside you in your rite of passage to becoming a mother, whether for the first or the tenth time. I offer tools, information and support as you need to experience the transformation of a positive birth journey into powerful and confident motherhood. I believe that birth is about so much more than a baby entering the world. I'm here to support you in birth and beyond, so you can know that you always have someone in your corner.

Having personally had two babies via caesarean, the second following an in-labour homebirth transfer, as well as thorough doula education and training, I am uniquely experienced to help women in planning for their empowered birth after caesarean
This journey looks different for every woman, and it can be very overwhelming. I'm here to help you understand your options, find the birth team to support your choices, and develop your birth map so no matter what kind of birth you decide you want - from a maternal assisted caesarean, to a freebirth in your shower and everything in between - you have the resources to be empowered with the transformative experience of a positive birth

Birth is a rite of passage, however it happens. My wish for women is for a pregnancy and birth where they feel calm, confident, and strong
Laura Stavoe Harm is quoted as saying “There is a secret in our culture and it is not that birth is painful but that women are strong”. Labour and birth is an epic marathon, but you have the power within you. The role of a doula in birth is to support you physically, emotionally, and spiritually as you unlock that power and transform into a mother

Through pregnancy, I'm here as your personal cheerleader and birth coach. I'll help you to source the information you need for informed decision making, and working with you to develop your Birth Map

And then in birth, I'm there with you as you embrace your strength and power to bring your baby earthside. I'll be your constant support and advocate, treating you as the goddess that you are as you traverse the journey of labour and birth
The postpartum period is a crucial time for new parents and has become completely overlooked in our current society. Pregnancy and birth take an enormous toll on the body and the mind, and the early postpartum days are often a whirlwind of sleep deprivation, and feeding and settling newborns

It is so important to nourish our bodies and with good food, rest and emotional support in this period to help us in our recovery and to feel strong and capable of being a parent, whether for the first time or the tenth
As a postpartum doula, I can help you with providing nourishing meals, dealing with household chores like basic cleaning and tidying, entertaining siblings, making tea and ensuring you get to drink it while it's hot, or often simply lending a non-judgemental ear. Postpartum needs look different for everyone, so I like to get to know you and help you develop a postpartum plan that suits your individual circumstances. Postpartum plans are dynamic and we adjust as we need when baby has arrived
Every woman's pregnancy and postpartum journey is different. I am available for short consultations, either in person or online, for one-off birth and/or postpartum planning. These sessions are all about providing you with what you need for your individual circumstances and helping you understand what rights and options you have
We can add on additional sessions if you feel you want to plan more thoroughly or delve into something specific - for example, understanding different induction options, or learning skills to be your best advocate

I'm open to providing all levels and kinds of care, so please don't hesitate to get in touch and discuss your needs
